United Women in Faith — Supporting Vine Maple Place

We want to thank the 14 women who attended our General Meeting on October 15. Christy Lane from Vine Maple Place spoke to us about their work to end family homelessness in South King County.

Jeanne Harmon purchased food items for three of their recipes: chicken pot pie, chicken noodle soup, and chili, using funds from a Thrivent Grant and United Women in Faith. We were able to assemble 70 ready-to-make nutritious meals for the single parents and children they serve.

Christy took some of the meals, and Jeanne Harmon and Barb Baldwin delivered the rest to the Kent East Hill location. Vine Maple Place was very appreciative. Our Kent United Women in Faith unit really made a difference! Thank you.

Women, Join Susanna Wesley Circle

Susanna Wesley Circle of the United Women in Faith meets via Zoom on fourth Sundays from 2 to 4 p.m. Circle is a time for fellowship, study of a book we choose, and learning about and participating in the larger United Women in Faith activities. It is a sisterhood of sharing our life experiences, supporting each other through the ups and downs of life, and learning together.

This year, we will study Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life by Tish Harrison Warren. The author states, “We are shaped every day, whether we know it or not, by practices-rituals and liturgies that make us who we are. We receive these practices-which are often rote-not only from the church or the Scriptures but from the culture, from the “air around us.” We hope you will join us in investigating rituals such as bed-making, brushing our teeth, checking our email, drinking tea, and more. These rituals can be pathways to greater faith.

Used and new copies of the book can be obtained online at Amazon and other booksellers. Please feel free to contact us for more information. Our meetings are open to women who want to grow in faith and fellowship.
