Welcome to KidZ JAM Sunday School.

For children from Infant through 5th grade!

Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14

At Kidz JAM, we know “We’re never too young to be used by God!”

Hey kids, have you ever wondered what the Advent Candles are all about?

Advent is the four weeks leading up to Christmas. It is a season of waiting for the birth of Jesus. Around the world, the Advent wreath is a common symbol used during the Advent season. The wreath is usually made up of evergreen branches and four candles, each representing a different part of the Advent story.

Each Sunday leading up to Christmas, we light one of the four candles and talk about its meaning: The first candle represents hope, the second candle represents peace, the third candle represents joy, and the fourth candle represents love. At KUMC, we light a fifth candle, the Christ candle, on Christmas Eve.

The Advent wreath is a great way to remember God’s love and promises to us and to remember Jesus’ presence in our lives each and every day. You may want to work with your family to gather some candles and create your own Advent wreath at home. Gather some candles.

It’s time to get out your Advent blocks!

Advent blocks are like a very cool Advent calendar. Each day, you read a story and turn a number block to show an image that goes along with that story. Then, on Christmas Eve, all the blocks are turned one more time to reveal a very special message! Over the last few years, KUMC has provided our children with a set of Advent blocks. Remember that your Advent blocks go from December 1 through December 25, so it’s time to get them out! We’d love to see photos of you and your family sharing time together using your Advent blocks. Please take a picture and send it to Ms. Terry at terrybolender@kentmethodist.com.

PreK through 2nd Grade

We’re excited about our new Sunday School curriculum this fall: Big Faith. Within each session, children will be introduced to a faith concept, explore a Bible story together through storytelling and video, participate in age-appropriate, hands-on activities, and reflect on and share what they have learned with one another. Big Faith is fun, interesting, and volunteer-friendly (which our teachers love!). In our KidZ JAM e-mail each week, parents will learn what stories their children will learn on Sunday morning. (If you are not part of our KidZ JAM e-mail list, please contact the church office, and we’ll add you!)

3rd through 5th Grade

Our 3rd through 5th graders will learn more about the Bible and the wonderful things it teaches us about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and daily life. Using materials developed by JoDeen Cushman and Robin Hammer, they’ll learn the books of the Bible and how to read and look up scripture. They’ll learn important stories about the people of the Bible and understand that God’s Word teaches and guides us in our own lives.

What about 6th Graders?

Our 6th graders have been promoted! As middle schoolers, they will be participating in faith formation time on Sunday mornings with EJ Ragual. Check out the information on the Youth page!

Childcare for infants and toddlers is available every Sunday service with activities for 3-year-olds!

Children of all ages are always welcome to attend the entire worship service.

Please complete this registration form before your children attend our programs. You can also pick up a copy to fill out when you attend in person. We want to make sure we can contact you if there is an emergency and keep your children safe.
