Welcome to KidZ JAM Sunday School.
For children from Infant through 5th grade!
Jesus said, "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19:14
At Kidz JAM, we know “We’re never too young to be used by God!”
Holy Week Worship
HOLY WEEK is a very special time in the church. All week long, we remember the final week of Jesus’ life here on earth and then finish with great rejoicing on Easter Sunday—He is Risen! Families at KUMC will want to be sure to take part in the following special activities:
Palm Sunday, April 13: Join us for a very special palm parade led by the children through the Sanctuary. Everyone will wave palm branches and sing “Hosanna!” This year’s parade will be a little different - Pablo the donkey is off on Spring Break this year and isn’t able to join us. But don’t worry – we are planning something special! After the Time With Young Disciples, children will go to their Sunday School classrooms.
Maundy Thursday, April 17: We will hold a Maundy Thursday service (also called Tenebrae Service) at 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary. We will remember the Passover supper that Jesus shared with his disciples. During this service, we will share communion and the washing of hands. Parents are encouraged to talk to their children about the meaning of this important day (read Luke 22:14-23).
Good Friday, April 18: A service designed for all ages! The miracle of Easter is more fully appreciated as an understanding is formed or deepened around what came before that joyful dawn. Children and their families are encouraged to join the congregation for an Intergenerational Good Friday worship service in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 pm. This experiential service of stories, light, and shadow will primarily be led by our youth (and their leaders). It is designed to be a meaningful worship experience for 3-year-olds through adults.
Easter, April 20: Easter morning begins with an outdoor service on the front lawn at 7:00 a.m. We will sing, hear scripture, and take communion as we welcome the Good News that He is Risen. Then, our youth will wave ribbons and banners as we open our 10:00 a.m. worship service. The children and youth will also sing in an Intergenerational Choir.
Following Sunday School, children from nursery through Grade 5 are invited to our annual Easter egg hunt on the front lawn.
Coins For Lent – 2025
Again, we will hold a Coins for Lent project with our kids this year. This mission project will help support local children in foster care and will also provide an opportunity for meaningful family discussions throughout the season of Lent. As kids collect coins, they are reminded of the many blessings that God has given them. Jars and information will be sent home from Sunday School on March 2nd. We encourage all families to engage in this project and talk together about how God is working in their lives.
Join us in the sanctuary Every Sunday @ 10:00 am
PreK through 2nd Grade
We’re excited about our new Sunday School curriculum this fall: Big Faith. Within each session, children will be introduced to a faith concept, explore a Bible story together through storytelling and video, participate in age-appropriate, hands-on activities, and reflect on and share what they have learned with one another. Big Faith is fun, interesting, and volunteer-friendly (which our teachers love!). In our KidZ JAM e-mail each week, parents will learn what stories their children will learn on Sunday morning. (If you are not part of our KidZ JAM e-mail list, please contact the church office, and we’ll add you!)
3rd through 5th Grade
Our 3rd through 5th graders will learn more about the Bible and the wonderful things it teaches us about God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and daily life. Using materials developed by JoDeen Cushman and Robin Hammer, they’ll learn the books of the Bible and how to read and look up scripture. They’ll learn important stories about the people of the Bible and understand that God’s Word teaches and guides us in our own lives.
What about 6th Graders?
Our 6th graders have been promoted! As middle schoolers, they will be participating in faith formation time on Sunday mornings with EJ Ragual. Check out the information on the Youth page!
Childcare for infants and toddlers is available every Sunday service with activities for 3-year-olds!
Children of all ages are always welcome to attend the entire worship service.
Please complete this registration form before your children attend our programs. You can also pick up a copy to fill out when you attend in person. We want to make sure we can contact you if there is an emergency and keep your children safe.
