Welcome to the
Kent United Methodist
Church Website!
Two very significant actions were taken at our church’s Administrative Council meeting in June. One had to do with our Building Committee and the other with a Vision 20/20 Committee.
Since we don’t currently have plans for a new building project, the Administrative Council voted to dissolve the current Building Committee until we are ready to launch a new building campaign. When that time comes, a Building Committee will once again be formed and will present our building plan to the Seattle District Board of Church Location and Building for its final approval. I want to take this opportunity to convey my appreciation to the current members of our Building Committee and its chair, Stan Pennock, for their faithful service to the Lord and the Church. They have bent over backwards in serving the needs of our Kent Church family and for this we are thankful.
The Council also enthusiastically approved the establishment of a Vision 20/20 Planning Committee “to decide our church’s long term goals as well as short term plans and recommendations to achieve those goals.” As chair of the Nominations Committee on Lay Leadership, I am charged with finding nine persons representing a broad cross-section of our congregation from young to old, long-time member to recently joined, and from various ethnic backgrounds to serve on this committee. A similar group, formed over 10 years ago, gave our congregation a renewed sense of direction and purpose that helped us become the vibrant community of faith we are today. Now it is once again time to seek God’s guidance in what God would have us do and become in the next ten years. With great excitement and expectation, let us pray together that the Spirit of God will continue to lead and guide Kent United Methodist Church; blessing us to be a blessing to the community we serve in the name of Christ.
In Christ’s Name,

Mission Statement
"The United Methodist Church of Kent is a community of Christians who acknowledge God as Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer and who share the United Methodist Discipline and connection. The purpose of the United Methodist Church of Kent is to be a community that seeks to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ effectively, and to reach out to our neighbors through our attitudes, words and actions in loving service. As followers of Christ we seek to learn, teach and grow in faith; and to express our faith practically in the ministry of our church, our daily life and our work. We seek to be supportive of one another, in the spirit of Christ, in joy and sorrow and in crisis and in common life. We seek to cherish our diversity of gifts and backgrounds as individuals and unite in Christ Jesus through our worship, study, and fellowship and service. We intend to be an inclusive fellowship, without regard to race, class, gender, status or condition."
